Historic Mercer Street

South Congress Avenue
This vibrant neighborhood south of Lady Bird Lake is a must-stroll for visitors and a popular hangout for locals. South Congress oozes homespun character and boasts the story of Austin’s yesteryear in its boutiques, eateries, galleries and music venues. Make sure to stop and take a picture by the iconic "I love you so much" mural at Jos Coffee!

Rainey Street Historic District
Renovated houses turned into bungalow bars reign supreme on this increasingly popular tucked-away street. Day or night, you’ll find relaxed bar-goers strolling from bar to food trailer to bar again, often with their dogs in tow looking for a kicked back sip and a bite.

Sixth Street Historic District
Old 6th Street, fondly known as Dirty 6th, is the original entertainment section of the street where you can find live bands performing day and night. Dirty 6th, is sometimes considered the “rowdy” part of the district and often compared to New Orlean’s Bourbon Street. For something less rowdy, we recommend West 6th where there is eclectic mix of outdoor patio ice houses, dive bars, upscale rooftop lounges, and sports bars.

Hamilton Pool Preserve
Hamilton Pool Preserve is a historic swimming hole with a 50 ft. waterfall Located 3/4 mile upstream. Reservations are required to enter Hamilton Pool Preserve during peak summer months, May-September so make sure to book your reservation in advance!
