We met in a church internship program at Church of the Highlands. The first time we really got the chance to talk was when we were doing an outreach event together on campus. I (Courtney) remember Garrett vividly the night he won the Bible Belt. Which at our church is given out to the intern that serves their heart out the most. I had just won it the week before so I knew it was a sign. And a few days later, we went on our first date. And the rest is history.
The day of the proposal, I (Courtney) was attending church with a friend while living in Charlotte. I had just spoken to Garrett about his Jiu-Jitsu tournament he was competing in. My friend and I decided to carpool and met at a park. After church, I was driving back to the park when she suggested we walk around the park since she was new to the area. As we were walking around, Garrett came out of nowhere. He and I then continued to walk until this gorgeous stone bridge where he had spread rose petals out. And then next thing I know, he is on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!!! From there we took pictures with a photographer, then got in a limo and went to uptown to get a fancy steak dinner.
