COVID-19

Family and Friends, We have been discussing our wedding celebration plans considering the on-going coronavirus pandemic and have decided that the best way to protect all our wonderful and supportive friends and family is to cancel the celebration at 20th Century Theatre on May 9th, 2020. We have been dreaming of our wedding day since we became engaged and looked forward to dancing the night away with our loved ones. However, we recognize that it means more to us to keep our friends and family healthy. We are excited to say that we are still getting married on May 9th, 2020 in a small ceremony with immediate family. While the circumstances aren’t ideal, we know this is the best decision for us, our parents, and all those we hold dear. Thank you for celebrating us throughout our engagement and for being so supportive during this time in our lives. We are so excited to become The Riedingers in just 51 days! If any of you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us. We love you!

How we met

In 2008

We met in high school initially when Courtney was a freshman and Brett was a sophomore through mutual friends. Fast forward 5 years when we ran into one another again on the University of Louisville's campus. Go Cards! After seeing that Brett had grown 5 inches since starting college, Courtney let slip to a friend that she had a crush on Brett. Cecily, our mutual friend, went straight to Brett to share the news. After a game of beer pong in exchange for Courtney's number, Brett asked Courtney on a date. He thought he would show his adventurous side and try sushi for the first time. She was smitten and the rest is history!

The Proposal

November 22, 2018

We enjoyed a jam-packed Thanksgiving Day surrounded by best friends and family. First thing that morning, we ran the Thanksgiving Day race together in Cincinnati with some of Brett's family members. We went home and quickly got ready then headed out to Courtney's grandparent's house for lunch where she made a clever comment that suggested Brett "wasn't in the family yet" at the table. Little did she know just 3 hours later, he would be on his way to becoming a member of the family! They said goodbye to Courtney's family after lunch then left Holton, IN and drove back to The Shay's residence in Northern KY where several Riedinger aunts, uncles, and cousins were enjoying the holiday. After dinner, Uncle Ted gathered the whole family for a photo- a Thanksgiving Day tradition. Brett made his way to the front of the family where he got down on one knee and proposed with his mom's ring while the photos were being taken. You better believe those photos captured the entire family's reactions to the proposal! (See the "Photos" tab for the photo!) Courtney's dad, mom, and brother emerged from the basement just in time to witness the proposal! It was perfect for us and we are so grateful that so many of our loved ones could be present for the special moment. We have so much to be thankful for and cannot wait to celebrate our special day with the people that mean the most to us!
