FAQs

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. However, we think the sit-down dinner will be calmer and more fun for you without the adorable darlings in tow. If you travel with your children please make arrangements for a babysitter during the dinner - they are very welcome at the ceremony, and post-dinner for dancing if they have happy feet! We will have a list of recommended child care providers, just reach out to us. Aspen Meadows Resort has tennis courts, a swimming pool and spa, hiking, biking, and lots of grassy areas for running free, and the concierge will be happy to recommend age-appropriate activities in and around town.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotel to downtown Aspen?

Answer

The Aspen Meadows provides a free 24 hr shuttle service on the half hour to and from downtown Aspen, including Rubey Park and Aspen Mountain (about a 5 min ride), in addition to complimentary resort pickup to and from the Aspen Airport. They also offer bikes for 4 hrs at a time, free, from the hotel concierge.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail, please. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose.

Question

Will I need a car?

Answer

Not really. This is your opportunity to go green and not worry about parking tickets! Aspen's core downtown area is charming, compact and walkable. In addition to complimentary resort shuttle service between the hotel and downtown and the airport, the municipal bus routes are free, and that includes trips to Maroon Bells, Snowmass Village, and the Hunter Creek trailhead. The city also provides 2 additional fare-free services; the Downtowner (an electric car pickup accessible through an app with an average wait of 5 min), and WE-cycle, a bike-sharing network with 45 stations between Aspen and mid-valley that is free for all 30 minute-or-less trips. Both Uber and Lyft are options as well, so leave the driving to someone else!

Question

What's the weather like?

Answer

Due to its high elevation and mountainous location, Aspen has a humid continental climate, meaning that the temperatures can vary quite wildly during a single day. Average summer highs are 78°F (26°C) for example, and sometimes daytime temps hover in the 90's, but drop much lower after the sun sets, rendering nights in Aspen quite cold. So plan your attire like a local would, which means layers. September weather is usually clear and crisp and dry, but be prepared for everything (global warming, right?). We forecast blue skies ahead!

Question

What about the altitude?

Answer

Aspen's elevation is approximately 8,000 feet (2,400 m) and it's one of the highest municipalities in Colorado. If you're a first-time visitor please remember to stay hydrated, acclimate slowly, and not overdo exercise and alcohol consumption as your body adjusts to the rarified air!
