The Schuylkill River Trail runs alongside the river through Phoenixville and connects all the way to Philadelphia.
Valley Forge National Historical Park is the site of a Revolutionary War encampment, northwest of Philadelphia, in Pennsylvania. Washington’s Headquarters, a stone house on the Schuylkill River, was occupied by George Washington from 1777 to 1778. Trails connect the key monuments and historic structures, including the early-20th-century National Memorial Arch and the Muhlenberg Brigade’s recreated log-cabin barracks.
Bike, walk, hike, run, picnic, fish in a stocked trout stream, view wildlife in their natural habitats. The park has over 7 miles of paved trails and there are several rustic nature trails available.
The Club at Shannondell is a community golf and swim club open to the public in addition to an 18-hole golf course that the Golf Digest ranks one of "The Best Places to Play.” The club includes an Olympic size swimming pool with a towering water slide and water features for kids, poolside grill, and Chadwick's Restaurant and Bar.
