Once upon a time on Match.com, Bill messaged Courtney. It was a very long, thoughtful message and it impressed Courtney enough to agree to a dinner date. They both arrived early at Scargo Cafe, in anticipation of their date (and knowing the wait for a table could be long), but were seated soon enough and were able to order a delicious meal. The conversation and laughs flowed easily throughout the date and soon enough both knew this was what they were looking for.
Bill had always longed to go to Charleston, SC and since Courtney hadn’t been since she was little they decided to plan a trip over Courtney’s February school vacation. They started planning before Christmas which allowed Bill to get creative with his Christmas gift. He ever so thoughfully purchased a horse drawn carriage ride and a food tour for the both of them to enjoy on their vacation. Upon arriving in Charleston and realizing it would rain during their carriage ride, Bill called to arrange an earlier ride - which Bill then informed Courtney was a Private Carriage Tour. Courtney’s mind instantly went into overdrive thinking of what might happen on this romantic, private carriage ride. A short time later they met their horse Jim (the Equine Employee of the Month!) and began the tour. They listened to all the stories and factoids the guide knew but all too soon the ride came to an end....without any of the thoughts in Courtney’s mind happening. The following day they made the ride out to Magnolia Plantation to tour the beautiful grounds known for its camellias. Starting at the petting zoo on the grounds, they were led around by a friendly, gray duck. He really gave quite the tour! Leaving the petting zoo, they began their stroll around the grounds marveling at all the lovely flowers. A ways into their walk Bill began talking aout the future and soon enough asked Courtney to marry him. She said yes! He took out his grandmothers ring and slid it on Courtney’s finger. Grinning blissfully, the two finished their walk through the gardens. Charleston will always hold a special place in their hearts.
