In May of 2021, they had just started their summer jobs at BYU sport's camps. Matt was a kids counselor and Courtney worked in the office as a manager overseeing some of the sports. They both ended up at many pool parties and group hangouts, but finally ended up talking more at a house party that Courtney hosted. Matt worked up the courage to ask Courtney out on their first date that night and the next week they had their first date at California Pizza Kitchen. Matt asked Courtney to be his girlfriend a week after their first date, and they both said "I love you" a month later. The rest of that summer they hung out every day and often went on double dates with their friends Grant and Shannan who met the same way they did. The next few years consisted of lots of school, homework, summer internships, and lacrosse practice and games that Courtney almost always attended. There were lots of trips to Las Vegas visiting Matt's family and many holiday trips to San Francisco visiting Courtney's family. Some of the best memories together include: snowboarding/skiing, jet skiing on Utah lakes, road trips to Vegas and San Clemente, Disneyland, weekend trips to Midway, and all the special date nights week to week that they would take turns planning. They both graduated college this past spring (Matt in computer engineering and Courtney in business and nursing) and are excited for the next chapter as they move to Seattle! Matt proposed to Courtney on November 7th, 2025 and after 5 years of dating and being engaged, they are very ready to start their life together on September 5th, 2026!
