Love in the Time of Coronavirus

Courtney & Jeff met the old fashioned way, by swiping right on Bumble! Their first exchange was brief, but Courtney sent Jeff another message a month or so later to ask where he worked, since his job description was listed as “Real Estate Reporter at Undisclosed.” Jeff said he worked at the Houston Business Journal, and they quickly figured out he had written about a handful of projects Courtney was working on in her job as an apartment developer. From there they decided to meet, and agreed on The Museum of Natural Science on January 26, 2020. After a slightly awkward walk around the dinosaur and gem exhibits, they went to enjoy a glass of wine or three on the patio at Boheme. It was an absolutely lovely afternoon - 70° and sunny. The next day, Jeff asked Courtney for a second date. They went for drinks at Onion Creek later that week and had a blast. After that, Courtney deleted Bumble (and hopefully so did Jeff!) Their relationship has been very unique in that the world as they knew it shut down about six weeks in due to Covid 19. They had filled each others calendars with work events, baseball games, concerts, and cocktail parties - but every last one of them was cancelled. Although they have never been able to go to a movie together, they have spent a ton of time together over the year and had no distractions as they fell in love. They joke that 11 months of dating during a pandemic is like 27 years of dating in real life. They are incredibly grateful to have met each other when they did and that they had someone with whom to spend this bizarre year.

The Proposal

Courtney and Jeff are the proud parents of two very misbehaved dogs, Clyde and Beezus. They love their doofus dogs with all of their hearts and they have been a very central part of their relationship. On December 20, 2020, they decided to take their dogs to Johnny Steele Dog Park at Buffalo Bayou. Jeff brought his camera to "test out his new lens on the dogs." After making small talk with another couple at the park, Jeff asked the man if he wouldn't mind taking their picture. After a few snaps Jeff got down on one knee and proposed. Courtney and Jeff spent the rest of the beautiful Sunday afternoon toasting champagne with Courtney's family and a few close friends on her parents' rooftop. The celebration will continue as they plan their wedding!

Vaccination 101

Courtney and Jeff have scheduled their wedding for August in the interest of the safety of their guests. President Biden has committed to the vaccine being available to everyone by May 1st. By late August, they are optimistic that all of their wedding guests will have had the opportunity to receive the vaccine. Please let the bride and groom know if you have not received the vaccine for any reason. The safety of their event and their guests is of utmost importance.
