Daniel and Courtney met on a quaint little app called Tinder, an online dating site. Within a few days of matching, the pair decided to meet for dinner. Courtney suggested the Waldorf Saloon (a college bar located across the street from the University of Nevada, Reno, where the pair were enrolled in graduate school), and was shocked to learn Dan had never tried one of the establishment's signature items, The Jiffy Burger. Dan and Courtney met at 7:00 and, after an hour or so, Courtney revealed she had previously arranged post-dinner plans should things not have gone so well. Neither was quite ready to end the evening, so Courtney invited Dan to join her and her friends for drinks. Dan's relaxed demeanor and quick jokes put Courtney at ease and quickly won her friends' approval. The night progressed perfectly and when they finally parted ways, both knew a second date would soon follow.

Daniel and Courtney share a beloved golden retriever, named Truckee, and the family's evenings are often spent at the park near their home. On Sunday evening, after an amazing weekend of watching hot air balloons and attending the local Greek festival, Dan suggested the two take Truckee on a walk. Courtney agreed and then Dan went upstairs to change, he returned in much fancier attire...Courtney suspected then, that a certain question may be coming. The three of them spent a half hour or so as the sole occupants of the park, but as neighbors started to arrive, Dan suggested they go for a walk. After walking for a bit, they began to return home and Courtney believed she had misread the situation. As they returned past the park, Dan suggested they stop a second time. Courtney was perched on a rock while Dan played fetch with Truckee, he then asked Truckee if she was ready to give mom her surprise. He dropped to one knee and Courtney immediately said yes. After soaking in the moment, the three returned home to call their family and friends, they then went out to a celebratory dinner.
