It was May 15th, a typical Saturday afternoon at Joi’s house where friends decided to come over for the usual small cookout. A mutual friend of Joi’s asked if she could invite Alexia over to the cookout and Joi said yes. As Alexia arrived, she fit right in and immediately joined the fun and games. Throughout the night, Joi and Alexia found ample time to share small moments getting to know each other and by the end of the night shared their first ice cream together. Over the next few weeks, Joi and Alexia couldn’t get enough of each other’s company. After three Wednesday dates, they decided to make Wednesday their dedicated “date night” and explored all over DC for the of the summer. Sadly, Joi had already made plans to move to Los Angeles but their love story didn’t stop there. After visiting Joi a couple times during the first few months of winter, Alexia made the decision to move to Los Angeles as well. Their Wednesday night tradition became a cherished routine, reinforcing the bond between Joi and Alexia. Little did they know that the cookout in Joi’s backyard had planted the seeds of a beautiful relationship that would continue to blossom with every passing Wednesday.
Exactly 2 years, 1 month and 1 day since our first date Joi planned the proposal of my dreams. It happened on a Wednesday, at the place where we had our first date, Proper 21 in Washington D.C. Joi told me we were going on a date to one of our favorite spots, RPM, and a car would be there to pick me up after work. Little did I know I was in for a surprise. I arrived outside of what I thought was the wrong restaurant and with a photographer capturing the moment, Joi asked me to be apart of her forever and I said YES! The surprises didn't stop there, as we walked inside the restaurant, to my excitement, our close family and friends were all there to celebrate the moment with us. It could not have gone any better or been any more perfect. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in the City of Angels!
