We started out as friends way back in middle school, but somewhere along the way—probably between awkward school dances and passing notes in class—our feelings for each other began to change. By the time high school came around, we were spending so much time together it was like the universe was gently nudging us toward something more. And then, Michael asked me to be his girlfriend. From that moment on, we were inseparable. Over the past decade, we’ve shared a lifetime’s worth of ups, downs, and everything in between. Somehow, we’ve survived learning to drive, high school drama, turning 16, 18, and 21—and we’ve managed to come out stronger (and only slightly traumatized by parallel parking tests). It’s pretty rare to say you’ve grown through nearly every major life milestone with your best friend and soulmate, but that’s exactly what we’ve done. Now, we can’t wait to take this next step, to officially become husband and wife, and to spend the rest of our lives laughing, loving, and growing old together—hopefully still holding hands and arguing over where to eat for dinner.
