This is a story 15 years in the making. Coty was a junior in high school, Kevin was a senior. Although Coty was dating a mutual friend, she had a crush on Kevin since the day they met. She thought he was the most good looking guy in school, but she didn’t know he thought the world of her (and she wouldn’t for 11 more years). After high school, Kevin went off to college and Coty soon after moved back to Chile. They didn’t see each other for a couple years but occasionally caught up with the “happy birthday” or “saw this… how are you doing?” text. In 2015, Coty got a job that made her travel to the US often, and she would always squeeze in a weekend in Virginia to visit her family and have a BBQ with friends. Kevin would always come to those “yearly catch-up’s” as he called them. It was sooo clear that we both liked each other, but still nobody said anything. Perhaps they were both shy people? (Kevin writing this part - who makes a move with good intentions when you live 5,000 miles apart? And no, it was not “sooo clear”)  For one of those trips to the US in August 2016, Coty had a free weekend in NYC and Kevin drove up to meet her. She thought this was a clear sign that he liked her (who else would drive to NY for the day, right?).  They had an incredible day being tourists in the city – it felt like a movie! The day came to an end, Kevin went home, and STILL nobody said anything (yeah yeah, we know....). Fast forward a couple years, with more of a “6 month catch-up" in the States, they were keeping in touch a little more and somehow formed this idea of a trip in the Patagonia. Kevin did not want to inconvenience “a friend” with 2 weeks vacation but ultimately the trip became a reality and in October 2019 Kevin traveled to Chile. [[Coty side of the story: I was SO nervous – this guy I had liked forever was traveling across the world to be in a tent with me for 7 days? WHAT!?. Clearly he had to like me. Kevin's side of the story: Still oblivious - Coty was my amazing international friend who I wanted to stay somewhat close with, but never imagined anything more.]] They went to the Patagonia, a paradise with unbelievable views of mountains, glaciers, lakes, and the most amazing starry skies they’d ever seen. Coty kept wondering when he was going to pull a move (he wasn’t…yikes!). A couple days in, she decided she was done waiting and gave him a kiss. Kevin was paralyzed and at first couldn’t form a complete sentence, but soon all their feelings over the years were aired out over laughs. They ran through every moment the past 10 years when they both “didn’t say anything” and just couldn’t believe it. Another few days followed Torres del Paine in a different kind of paradise, Chile's wine country in Santa Cruz. They made plans to see each other in another 2 months when Coty had work in Colorado. With that trip the rocket had left the pad, so to speak.   From then on, we knew we wanted to be together. We would both travel often and it would be easy to keep in touch given Coty's company was in Colorado and Kevin was planning to move there. But 2020 brought some obstacles for travel plans. There were stretches we didn’t see each other for 6-7 months. From then on, everybody knows the story. It was hard but we made it 😊 In October 2021, Coty was finally able to make the move to the US and we have been living together ever since. It has been the most amazing beginning to our life together and we’re excited to see what we conquer in the future!

Esta es una historia que partió hace 15 años. La escribimos en conjunto pero la voy a contar desde primera persona porque la traducción es más fácil jaja. Yo (Constanza) estaba en tercero medio y Kevin en cuarto. A pesar de que yo pololeaba con un amigo de él, Kevin se convirtió en mi amor platónico desde el día que lo conocí. Lo encontraba el hombre más mino del colegio, mientras que el me encontraba inteligente y moría por mi (a pesar de que no me lo dijo hasta 11 años después). Después del colegio, Kevin se fue a la universidad y yo me fui a vivir a Chile. Pasaron años en los que no nos vimos y el máximo dialogo pasó a ser el ocasional mensaje de “feliz cumpleaños.” El 2015, yo entré a trabajar a una empresa con la que viajaba a EEUU seguido. En esos viajes siempre aprovechaba de pasar por Virginia a ver a mi familia y hacer un asado con amigos. Kevin no se perdía esa invitación. Era taaan evidente que ambos nos gustábamos, pero aún después de años nadie decía nada. No se si por tímidos o por pavos? (Kevin dice - Quién se las juega sabiendo que van a estar a 8000 km? Y que no, no era tan evidente jaja) En uno de esos viajes por trabajo en Agosto 2015, yo tenía un fin de semana libre en Nueva York y Kevin fue a verme. Para mi, esto era clara evidencia de que él estaba detrás mío (si no por qué manejaría 8 hrs para ir a NY por el día, o no?). Tuvimos un día increíble turisteando por NY – fue realmente de película! Llegó la noche, Kevin volvió a Virginia, y todavía nadie decía nada (sin comentarios, lo sabemos). Con el pasar del tiempo las visitas anuales pasaron a ser cada 6 meses, y en uno de esos asados salió la idea de ir a la Patagonia. Kevin no quería molestar a "su amiga" con un viaje de 2 semanas pero finalmente lo convencí de que no era "molestia"" y en Octubre 2019 el viaje se hizo realidad. [[Coty: Estaba TAN nerviosa – este compadre que me gustaba hace mil iba a viajar al fin del mundo para estar conmigo en una carpa por una semana, obvio que le gusto. Kevin: Coty era mi amiga internacional que admiraba y encontraba increíble. Siempre quise mantener contacto pero jamás me imaginé que me podría pescar.]] Llegamos a las Torres del Paine a un paraíso de glaciares, lagos, y el cielo más lindo que hemos visto. Pasaban los días y yo me preguntaba cuando se las jugaría. Después de varios días, me aburrí de esperar y le planté un beso. Kevin estaba paralizado. Al principio no era capaz de formar una frase, pero después de muchas risas nerviosas, la verdad salió a la luz y no podíamos creer todos los momentos en los últimos 10 años cuando ‘nadie había dicho nada’. Disfrutamos unos días más en la Patagonia y luego nos arrancamos a Santa Cruz para aprovechar los últimos días juntos. Hicimos planes de vernos en 2 meses más cuando yo viajaría a Colorado por trabajo. Con esto, se podría decir que el cohete había despegado... Desde ese instante sabíamos que queríamos estar juntos. Viajaríamos seguido y sería fácil vernos dado mis viajes de pega a Colorado y que Kevin estaba en proceso de irse a vivir allá. Pero el 2020 tenía otros planes, y hubo momentos en los que pasamos 6-7 meses sin vernos. De ahí en adelante todos conocen la historia. Fue difícil pero lo logramos 😊 En Octubre 2021, finalmente me vine a vivir acá y este último año viviendo juntos ha sido increíble. Estamos felices partiendo nuestra vida juntos acá y nos entusiasma ver lo que se viene en los próximos años!
