If you're staying at the Box House and are looking for a cute cafe, this affordable Japanese gem is fantastic. I recommend the egg salad sandwich.

The same price as a subway swipe ($2.75), you can take the NYC Ferry right here from Greenpoint! The East River Line runs from east 34th Street down to Lower Manhattan, making stops at Greenpoint (us!), Williamsburg, and DUMBO. And remember, you can transfer from one ferry to another (be sure to ask for a transfer slip) so you can ride all the way out to Rockaway Beach if you want! Not bad for $2.75.
