We first met when I was 16, him 20. I was still in high school, he was just completing his first year of university. There was ABSOLUTELY no romantic interest for either of us. Awkward age gap and our personalities clashed. Would you believe we bickered the first conversation we had? Over the next 3 years we would see one another through mutuals and would get lost in conversations with one another, attraction blossomed for both of us secretly. Fast forward, I completed my first year of university, him his fourth and I was getting out of a toxic relationship a few months prior. I had NO interest in dating anyone anytime soon. I do recall after my break up praying and begging 'if you actually exist god' to please save me from more heart break, and praying for the first time in my life for the type of man my heart desired and needed. Thank you social media for existing and of course Jesus too. One night he pretended to send me a “random accidental snapchat.” He later admitted to just finding an excuse to check in on me as he was hearing through our mutual about my break up a few months prior. I am forever glad I did not leave him on read (as i originally planned). A few days later we were hanging out quickly falling for one another. Long distance was just not what we wanted. He needed to leave for university in another province, while I attended university locally. He promised me he would wait for me, I told him if he was the one then it would find a way someday. Gods way. While we both attended university in separate province’s, we spent our free time talking and on the phone everyday. I decided to surprise him in Moncton for thanksgiving as I knew he was going to be alone and he was homesick (how sweet am I). Love happened very quickly for us, as much as we tried to resist it at first. I remember being 6 months into our relationship, about to spend our first Christmas together and he asked if it was too soon for a ring. I said, "lets graduate and experience life together first." Now we get to share our love with all of you, and we are so so excited as we've eagerly waited for this day for 5 years! I recently told my Pastor the story of before I found my faith, I remember praying for Nicholas. I prayed for the exact man Jesus delivered to me. I am so grateful everyday.
