Question

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

There are 3 choices... The Jacksonville airport is about 1 hour away from St Augustine. Orlando airport will have more flight options, but more traffic, about 2 hours away. Sanford airport is the smallest. Affordable plane tickets are found here, but dates are not as flexible. About 1.5 hours away.

Question

Will there be a place to park?

Answer

There is a parking lot directly in front of the barracks, next to the parade field. Once that lot is full, there is parking directly behind the barracks on Charlotte Street.

Question

Open bar, drinks?

Answer

We will have an open bar for the first few hours, then it becomes a cash bar. $2 beers, $3 wine.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be inside or outside?

Answer

The ceremony will be on the Matanzas River on the parade field in front of the barracks. The cocktail hour will be outside/inside in the barracks garden and hall. The reception will be inside/outside. We will be mostly outside on grass and cobblestone, so consider your shoe choice!

Question

Can I walk to the venue?

Answer

If you stay south of the Lions Bridge, the venue is walking distance. North of the bridge is a little far, but still walking distance.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

All kids are welcome. We will have a kid friendly atmosphere... we have 4 ourselves! If you live locally, we encourage you to leave the kids at home! Most of our family is traveling from the Northeast or South Florida! We know when you travel out of town, you will likely bring your kids.

Question

What is the St Francis Barracks?

Answer

The barracks were constructed between 1724 and 1755 by monks of the Order of St. Francis, to replace a series of wooden buildings which had been destroyed by fire. The barracks were turned into a military structure by the British in 1763, after Florida became a British possession at the conclusion of the French and Indian War. It has been used by the Florida National Guard since 1930.
