Worth the wait.

Mikaela and Jeremy were both born and raised on the island of Lāna`i. With a small population you would think that they would find each other sooner. Her past was hers, his past was his, and the future is theirs. After a few years away at college, Mikaela moved home to Lāna`i to find herself and to find purpose in her life. Along the way she found herself hanging out with new friends and that's where the spark with Jeremy began. It was Jeremy who took the first step and asked Mikaela for her number. From then on, they got to know each other and made it "official". After a couple years of being in a long distance relationship, they got their own place together in Honolulu, got their fur baby Cooper, and created lots of memories throughout the years. A few years ago, they took a big jump and moved to Washington. They started new careers and they just bought their first home. This is not your traditional love story, but it is theirs and they cannot wait to to finally tie the knot!

If you know Mikaela, you would know her Type A, know-it-all personality. She thought Jeremy was going to propose on many occasions, but she did not see this day coming. They went to the gym, got their morning Starbucks, went home, ate breakfast burritos, and had planned a fun day out with friends. Shortly before they were supposed to head out, Jeremy asked Mikaela to go with him to bring Cooper for a walk. She was thinking, "Why now since we're almost going?" and almost told him that she didn't want to go. Everything seemed normal, they talked along the way and enjoyed Washington's beautiful scenery. They have previously taken many walks to the lighthouse, so this one seemed like just another walk. As they were approaching the lighthouse, Mikaela saw a trail of rose petals on the ground, looked and Jeremy and said, "OMG babe, someone for got to clean up!" being that it was Valentine's Day just two days before. Jeremy laughed and as they got closer to the coast Mikaela saw her family and friends peak around the corner. She was shocked! The rose petals were for her. Jeremy exchanged some words with Mikaela, got down on one knee, and proposed. She said, "yes!"
