In the early aughts of 2021, when the world was not quite back on its feet, a late-twenties, working-from-home attorney decided to try this whole "online dating" thing. Upon her first few minutes on the app, she swiped right at the same time as a soon-to-be thirty-year-old claims analyst making his way back East from Brooklyn. Now, if this girl hadn't moved back home with her parents to Long Island during the pandemic and this boy hadn't been in close proximity to her area as he was driving, they might have missed each other forever. But this was fate, after all. After a few days of lengthy conversation on the app, the girl asked the boy if he was up for texting off the app (scandalous!). The boy responded "Yeah, I'm down to text. You can reach me at…”. And so, the girl sent him a message to which green bubbles replied.

After a few days, the boy asked the girl what her thoughts were about meeting on Valentine's Day. It would be tricky to find a place, but they decided on the Town Dock in the girl's hometown of Port Washington. They both arrived there early, before their 5:30pm scheduled meet time, but once they got there and determined what cars they were in, they both turned around in their respective vehicles and locked eyes.

And then, on April 23, 2022, the boy and girl decided to re-visit one of their most favorite places: the Elizabeth A. Morton Wildlife Refuge, where they spent their first weekend-getaway during their first year together. At this most special place, where the little birds swoop down to take seeds from your hand, the boy poured some bird seed into the girl's hand at the first tree they saw and, voila: out popped her ring. After a year full of endless laughter, invaluable memories which included traveling across the country, spending time with and getting to know each other's families, and growing on the love they felt at first swipe...there was only one answer: Yes.

Both of our parents have a “20” in their wedding dates- Tim’s parents are February 20, 1988 and Cory’s parents are June 20, 1987…so a 20th of a month definitely needed to be in there. Plus, our first date dinner was at Gatsby’s Landing in Roslyn, New York, so it was only fitting that we get married at “Land”’s end; a venue already special to Tim and Cory for many other reasons. We look forward to celebrating our love and our marriage with you all at Land's End on October 20, 2023!
