“It happens when you least expect it!” That’s what everyone says — and they call it a cliché for a reason. But what happens when you’re mistaken for someone else? Or when your dates to a wedding are your parents? Well, for us, that turned out to be the beginning of something wonderful. Cory and Stacey met at Stacey’s cousin’s wedding. Cory was a groomsman, and Stacey was a guest. The night before the wedding, Stacey attended the rehearsal dinner in her father’s place since he wasn’t feeling well. That’s when Cory first noticed her and asked the groom, Nate, who she was. In true wedding-weekend fashion, the details got a little mixed up. Nate informed Cory that Stacey was actually her older sister — the one who was married, with a college-aged child living in Florida. Poor Cory took the news graciously, though he couldn’t help but be a little disappointed (and a bit confused — she didn’t quite look old enough for all that!). The next day, at the ceremony, Stacey arrived again — this time with her parents, and no husband or grown child in sight. Cory’s curiosity got the best of him, and after a few more questions, the truth finally came out: this wasn’t the married sister at all, but the younger one — and she was very much single. From that moment on, things just clicked. What started with a case of mistaken identity turned into the best kind of surprise — the start of our forever.
