A couple of my housemates convinced me to get out of the house on a Friday night and we ended up in Fremont at Red Door. Two of us were talking and realized we needed drinks. My friend went up to the bar to order and I found myself beside a guy whose friend was ordering him a drink. I said to the guy, "this is the life huh? have your friends order drinks for you?" We started chatting and ended up talking until the bar closed. The main points of conversation I remember are, he thought my favorite drink, rum and root beer was terrible, and he used a corny line about how there is a feature on the iPhone that lets you put your number in it. I put my number in his phone and the rest is history!
Red Door on a Saturday night. I was waiting at the bar while my buddy grabbed us a couple of beers. From the corner of my eye I could feel her staring at me. After she undressed me with her eyes multiple times, I walked over to introduce myself. We started talking and hit it off immediately. Things were going well until I asked to buy her a drink and she asked for a rum and root beer. I nearly left her at the bar after that, but she was too cute to ditch. After that I was too drunk to remember anything else besides being super witty and getting her to put her number into my phone. I called her a few days later to setup our first date.
There is this Italian restaurant I wanted to go to for my bday, but didn't call ahead and they are always booked up. We looked at their website and the reservation line opened at 2:30, but we were going to be out kayaking. So, we talked to the hotel concierge and asked her what she thought the likelihood would be of us getting a reservation. She said when she had called the day before, they were booked both nights, but to go have fun and she would call at 2:30 to try. We said 7:30 would be ideal, but open to whatever openings they had. At 3:00 I got a text that the hotel concierge was able to get our reservation set at 7:30pm. We finished kayaking, walked around then got ready for dinner. We went to the hotel bar for a drink because we were early and then Cory said he wanted to go down to the sidewalk/viewing area that overlooks the harbor. We sat on a bench and he said he had a birthday present for me. He had gotten a chain for the necklace Remy broke and I had been wanting to get fixed. Then he said he had a slideshow to show me on his phone because he forgot to get me a card. He showed me the slideshow on his phone and they were pics of him and I and Remy. Then there was a fuzzy picture I had a hard time making out so I kept blinking but finally made out that it was a box that said Blue Nile and I asked what it was. He quickly tapped his phone to go to the next picture of the ring in the box and got down on one knee and proposed. We got back into the hotel and the person at the front desk came up to us saying congrats. I found out that Cory had called the Friday before to have someone take pictures of him proposing. We got to dinner and all of the staff knew and was telling us congrats. It was really sweet. We are pretty sure the concierge pulled some strings there. The end.
