Madeline was my college roommate at Luther and we quickly formed a forever friendship. Not only did we unknowingly dress the same to class, but we were also each others biggest support systems. I thank God for Madeline every night and I am so fortunate to also have a wonderful bond with all the rest of the Petellin family, including her grandparents who I hold close to my heart.

Although I met Jenna at college, I feel like I have been best friends with her for my entire life. Jenna lived a few doors down from my first year dorm room on 4th floor Ylvisaker. After our first time interacting, Jenna immediately asked for my cell phone number and I think we’ve texted almost every single day since. Jenna’s infectious laugh, along with her outgoing personality, made it quite easy to become best friends.

I started college knowing Maddie as the "other girl" who golfed with my roommate, Madeline. As our group of friends overlapped, it quickly became obvious we were bound to be close friends. She is my role model for everything entertainment and party planning. There’s no one as dependable as Maddie VK and I am blessed with our forever friendship.

Kennedy came into my life sophomore year as she was the new freshman on the soccer team. She also played the position of goalkeeper, so my initial response was immediate competition and rivalry. That is, until we actually met and I became obsessed with this newbie and immediately claimed her as my “soccer daughter”. She is my day one and there’s never a day that goes by that I am not appreciative of my dear friend.

Ali and I were inseparable when we were younger. She is the gal I would call every single day 3rd through 6th grade to see what she was wearing and what she was packing for lunch. She is my forever best friend, and although distance keeps us much farther apart than we would like, she is still such a big part of my life and I’m blessed to have her in our wedding.

The sister I always prayed for and FINALLY got! Liz is my sweet sister-in-law, wife to my brother, and a phenomenal mama to my sweet nephew, Avi David Hilgart. Liz has brought so much joy and creativity into the Hilgart household. We are far from artsy and creative so having Liz in the family is a huge win for everyone. I love her dearly and cannot wait for her to stand by my side.

My loyal, protective, and incredibly gifted MoMo was my very first friend at Luther College. We have journeyed through Soccer and school while continuing to hang out as much as possible. We have had the privilege of using Mo Speer Photography for many special family events, such as our engagement day, and Matt and Liz’s wedding. Her passion and talent shines through each picture she takes. I cannot wait to experience more amazing life moments with Mo right by our side.

Surprisingly, Annika and I met before our days at Luther had begun. We both were part of the incoming class of 2017 Facebook page and spotted each other on the site. We made a pact saying that we will hang out at college and be immediate friends. Who would have known that two naive little freshmen would have kept that pact almost eight years later. Annika has been such an amazing support system to both Cory and me throughout our entire relationship. We sure do love this gal and are so appreciative for her.

Natalie and I began our friendship through our many struggles and tears in the Nursing program. Our friendship continued to grow as we traveled across the sea to Nottingham, England to complete our public health nursing course. We have shared the fondest memories and best laughs throughout all our travels together. There’s no one I’d rather adventure with than this gal. I have loved living a mile away from her doorstep in Iowa City, and cannot wait for all the memories to come.

All there is to say is thank goodness for Amy Wirth. A fellow nurse, lover of a good time, and one of my best friends. Amy and I have become incredibly close as we spent a summer together working at Mayo Clinic. She is the life of any party, and thanks to her, our wedding will be pretty darn fun!
