On March 15, 2020, the dating app gods decided to play matchmaker and rigged the algorithms to match a born New Yorker turned Philly transplant with a Virginian 90 miles away in the sixth borough of NYC (some might refer to it as Hoboken). After some initial conversations about the Yankees, which baseball stadiums we've been to already, and how we were coping with the initial global shutdown, we took a gander at FaceTiming three days later...and wound up talking over 6 hours. We continued the FaceTime dates, texting and phone calls until we agreed to meet in-person in May. Cory drove down to Philly and stood outside Lara's apartment, and we talked (with masks on) across the street for over an hour before working up the courage to take a walk through Rittenhouse Square. Naturally, our first time revealing our faces to each other was with Lara's family on their vacation in the Hamptons about a month later. Soon, the trips to Philly and Hoboken became more and more frequent, including a couple of outdoor dates in the winter. Eventually, it became clear that things were evolving into a special bond that turned inseparable for us, and we moved in together to our current home in Newtown Square around Memorial Day weekend in 2021. Two months later, Cory worked up the courage to plan a wonderful night for Lara that included a surprise visit from her sister (and maid of honor) Amanda, and Cory popped Lara the question to start the journey toward a lifelong marriage filled with happiness, laughter, plenty of Cory's cooking, and everlasting love!
