How We Met

All love stories have to start somewhere. Ours started on Tinder, we both swiped right, Cory first lol. Our first date was a cute blind-date to Graeter's Ice Cream followed by a walk through Capital University's campus and a couple of beers. Cory was a gentleman and walked me to my car. I made the first move and he wasn't expecting it. Our second date took a while to happen, scheduling conflicts. Following a day of golf league, Cory met up with Erica and some of her girlfriends at a local bar in her home town while singing Karaoke. Too many drinks had been consumed and if you know the story, you know (very funny and embarrassing)! Neither contacted the other again. Jump 6 months later, Erica started working at New Albany Country Club as a bartender. Two months later, as she was pulling into the club she saw Cory walking from the parking lot to the Club House. Shock was one of many emotions Erica was experiencing when she saw him. Following an awkward passing at the clock-in computer and an even more awkward "Hello" in the cafeteria, the feelings were still there. We kept an appropriate 'work flirt' relationship due to Erica seeing someone else, this lasted for a couple months. The night things ended with the other guy, Cory was at a local bar with coworkers when one of them asked him if he liked Erica. Cory's response was, "Yeah. She's cool." They informed him that she was newly single. Cory wasted no time! The next day Cory texted Erica and asked her out on a date to a Columbus Clipper's baseball game. We have been together ever since! After two years together, we bought our first house in Gahanna, OH. We have now lived together for over two years and it will be five years together when we tie the knot on October 9, 2021.

The Proposal

08/03/2020

For Erica's 30th birthday last year, Cory and Erica went to New Orleans where Carly and Gino (Erica's sister and brother-in-law) had recently moved. Erica had gained a love for NOLA after a girl’s trip in 2019 with her mom and sister. The days in New Orleans consisted of tons of local cuisine, walking, warm weather, and sight-seeing. We went to Bourbon Street, the French Market, the Garden District, the Zoo, and multiple parks. Carly and Gino took us to City Park, which was known for the largest selection of live oak trees, because Erica loves them. While looking at one of the largest live oak trees, Cory dared Erica to climb it. Erica is not afraid of a dare, even with flip-flops on. When Erica came down from the tree and turned around, Cory was down on one knee with the ring in his hand. Cory was so nervous he rambled for a few minutes and even forgot to ask that one question so of course Erica had to remind him and obviously Erica said yes! The ring is a beautiful Tanzanite stone with diamond accents that Cory designed.
