I was a senior at Texas A&M at the time, with no concern for meeting anyone. Cory was a junior at Incarnate Word. Yes, I am a cougar, only 6 months okay?! Anyway - I knew a few of Cory's teammates that played at the local College Station baseball summer league. Cory somehow found me on social media, and I recognized his teammates in the pictures and we started following each other. A few likes here, a few likes there, next thing you know this man was in my DM's wishing me a Merry Christmas and it took off from there! Cory asked me on a date, and we decided to meet in Austin. I was on winter break at home in Giddings and he was up in Lewisville so it worked out to meet in between. We met at a BJ's Brewhouse (our taste has since elevated, promise) and i was SO nervous. If you know me...you know my defense mechanism when I'm nervous is to be overly sarcastic and even more sassy than usual...bless this man because Cory got a whole handful and a half of sass! I eventually settled in and we had a great dinner with a ton in common! Cory found a beautiful park nearby to make a post dinner picnic with wine and roses! A BEAUTIFUL idea, but the weather had other plans. At a whopping 35 degrees we were curled up in blankets shivering, but laughed nonstop and shared music for hours - everything from High School Music, to Drake, you name it. I genuinely had never clicked with another human that fast. It was getting late so we headed back. I was driving off when I noticed Cory struggling to open his truck door....he was attempting to wave me away to hide his embarrassment of being locked out of his truck but I couldn't leave him there in the cold! We hung out until the locksmith got there, and finally said goodnight. Cory asked me to be his girlfriend a couple weeks later, on January 31, 2016 and we've been attached at the hip from that night on - 5 years and counting! Austin TX has always been special to us meeting each other, and now it's our forever home!
