We are so very excited to celebrate with you! We know this is a big trip, we appreciate and are grateful for all who are able to make the journey. We want you to explore and enjoy the beauty and magic of the West! To set the tone/vibe for our celebration weekend there are a couple of things we'd like to note. We are excited to proclaim our love and commitment with you as our witness! However we aren't the most traditional and do not want this to feel as such. We want to spend time with and enjoy our friends and family. More than anything we want this to be relaxing, intimate and laid back... and of course FUN! Ceremony and Attire: The wedding itself will be a Mountain Garden party. Suits, Ties and Heels...NOT WELCOME! Have some fun and be comfortable! Think Mountain Chic- Florals, Denim, Stetsons, cowboy boots, squash blossoms, shawls, WHITE is 100% acceptable!
My friend Katy was in town visiting, the same friend who was on our first unnoficial date. We had planned on a hike that day, but Matt found out he didn’t have a trip to guide that morning and asked if we’d like him to take us fishing...of course we chose fishing! We were enjoying a beautiful day on the river, catching fish, relaxing, enjoying a cold beverage...Life was good! Matt pulled the boat onto a bank to get out to fish (pretty standard), as he always tries to get me to "row" and that never works out well. He asked me to get out and fish with him, a few times, I replied, "I’m happy sitting here watching you." Watching Matt fish is a beautiful sight it's like watching an artist paint strokes. It's mesmerizing, the way the line dances in the air. I noticed he kept messing around with his pocket and I reminded him not to ruin his phone as it had just been replaced about a week prior. He did this a few more times even after he'd placed his phone back in the boat. I didn't think anything of it and I drifted back to relaxing and taking in the beauty of the day. The next thing I knew he was tapping me on the shoulder. When I turned around he was kneeling in the river and simply asked, “Will you marry me?” He said I asked him a few times, “What? Are you serious?” It took a minute to process what was happening. I remember thinking to myself, "this is what it feels like to be fully loved." I think we all know my response. A few moments later out of no where we heard hootin’ N hollering! A short distance away a few boats had been on the bank wacthing us. About that time Katy turned around from the front of the boat, “What I miss!?” The boats called for us to come over as they had snapped a few photos of the proposal!
