So there's two version to this story the truth and a lie. If you want a nice lie we can say that we met about 10 years ago through the Volunteer Fire Department through mutual friends and fell madly in love. If you want the truth when we met we were both dating other people at the time (Johns Ex Best Friend) that didn't workout for us both. About two years later we came across each other again and bonded about how we both hated relationships and didn't want to be in one ever again. Fast forward 8 years later, the two of us have built a loving home together with our fur baby Jack, and couldn't imagine our lives with anyone else. I guess it was fate all along but we both didn't realize it at the time.
While this story was the perfect proposal, things almost didn't turn out too well when John almost left the ring at airport security, thankfully my family noticed that he was about to leave without his suitcase and yelled at him to come back. John and I got engaged on 2/1/2020 on a beautiful night in Mexico at the Club Med in Riviera Maya. I knew something strange was going on when John told me he had arranged for a private dinner for the two of us for a four course meal that evening. When we got there we had a beautiful bottle of champagne waiting for us and John looked extremely nervous and handsome in his white suit. About 40 minutes into dinner the musical entertainment came over to our table and started serenading me to Bruno Mars' song "Marry You" and John nervously dropped to his knee while rambling about us having a dog together and some other things that I cant remember. When he finally asked me, I quickly said "YES" and "What took you so long?" and my parents and siblings jumped out from where they were hiding in the restaurant and congratulated us. He also hired a photographer to snap some candids of the proposal which were beautiful. We spent the rest of the vacation celebrating our engagement and getting free things for being newly engaged wherever we could :)
