Cortney's Version of Our Love Story

It’s pretty simple, really. We both went to college at UCCS in Colorado Springs and we knew about each other when we were in school but had never spent time together. I knew who Jake was because I spent my free time watching the UCCS baseball games to “watch a friend play”. I always thought that the catcher was pretty cute but he was way out of my league. At that time, Jake was just a secret admirer of mine… or so that’s what I tell myself. We had not spent time together until a mutual friend, Cody Eden, convinced us to play with him in a charity mud volleyball tournament. Jake couldn’t help himself but fall for me after that. I have a picture from this day under the photo tab for your viewing pleasure. It wasn’t till two years later that Cody got us back together playing in a co-ed kickball league. After our first kickball game I was already smitten. Jake was impressed by my athletic ability and I couldn’t deny his goofy charm. I knew that Jake was someone special and would be a big part of my life. I saw Lexi (my best friend) the following weekend and told her that I found the guy she was going to marry. He was kind, caring, and had the best sense of humor. She would have to marry him because I knew he had to be in my life. I guess she gets the last laugh now! He asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest was history!

Jake's Version of Our Love Story

The first time that I officially met Cortney was during a mud volleyball tournament in Denver that our mutual friend Cody Eden invited us to. I am not sure if it was that she was athletic, her splashing around in the mud or that she scared the crap out of me when she yelled at me for missing a ball, but I was immediately attracted to her. After that we didn’t speak till the same friend brought us back together to form a co-ed kickball team. Again, I am not sure if it was her running around in leggings or her giving me a hard time for swinging and missing the kickball, never the less I was sold I remember one snowy morning in October Cortney and I went on a fly fishing trip with Alex. It was a cold, wet day and in true Cortney fashion, she didn’t bring enough warm clothes. After getting soaked in the first 10 minutes she went back to the truck were she spent the rest of the day freezing and reading. I remember Alex telling me that it was pretty cool Cortney would endure a 4 hour car ride to come out to this small lake on a snowy day to watch me not catch any fish. In that moment I knew that I realized that I was truly in love with this girl. So the next thing I did was trick her into being my girlfriend and look where we are now.
