Though for the past five years we have celebrated our anniversary on Cinco de Mayo (which was our first true date), we first met on a Monday evening on the patio of Ale House in the Denver Highlands. We ordered some drinks and a couple of appetizers, but honestly, we didn't come close to finishing them because we were too caught up in our conversation. Before we knew it, we were the only two people left on the patio and in the entire restaurant. Our conversation was so effortless that we closed the place down.
Under the guise of Father's Day weekend and with his birthday that Sunday, Justin invited both of the families to the Price's ski lake for the weekend. Cortney just happened to be away the entire week leading up to this weekend volunteering at a summer camp which allowed everyone to plan the perfect weekend without giving anything away. The morning of the proposal no one had yet arrived (by design) to the lake. With no one else available to help, Justin summoned Cortney to help him launch the boat before everyone else arrived. None the wiser to the reason why no one else had shown up yet, and honestly a little irritated, Cortney agreed to help. This gave some time for everyone (who was staged outside the gate) to sneak in and set up decorations. After swallowing a giant bug and choking for a few minutes, Justin got the boat launched. Then, after another hiccup with trying to get a pre-mixed playlist to connect, and after drifting into the middle of the lake, Justin was able to finally fake a catastrophic engine failure. This did not make Cortney happy one bit, but she wore her frustration like a champ and was happy to help dig through the back compartment of the boat for a distress flag (which was not there). This gave Justin some time to retrieve the pre-planted ring from a hiding location and get down on one knee. This special moment together, out on the lake, just the two of us was made even more special with a cooler stocked with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. When we were finally ready to come back in, Cortney was shocked to see everyone who was "running late" had magically shown up along with a few extra people who made the celebration even more special. Thank you to everyone who helped make that day so special for both of us! We can not wait to party our pants off and celebrate this next chapter in our lives with all of you!
