We first crossed paths at Van Buren High School in 2001... we’ll let you guys do the math. Over the years, we stayed in touch, but it wasnt until 2017 when we reconnected and the spark ignited. Eric lived in Van Buren and Cortney in Orlando, so neither were sure if the other was interested in a long distance relationship. Cortney came home quite frequently over the course of 2017 and invited Eric to visit her and go to Disney World. In January 2018, Eric took her up on the offer! Little did he know, he had a tight deadline to make this relationship official. In Cortney’s mind, this had to happen by the end of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks or it wasnt happening at all. The fireworks came and went and.... nothing. Cortney was ready to take him to the airport and send him home... but then they rode Pirates of the Carribbean. It was there that Eric asked Cortney to officially be his girlfriend. Out of sheer surprise, Cortney said.... nothing. And then a quick yes! After exactly one year of dating, we had a very romantic anniversary day planned and headed out to Lowe’s. On the way there, Eric mentioned how pretty the park had to be after the recent snowfall. This is a significant place to us, as it was the last place we visited together before we started dating. We got out to take a picture in front of the snow covered lake and Cortney beelined back to the car (it was cold!). She heard Eric say, “Hey Cort” and turned around to see him on one knee. Before he could say anything more, Cortney blurted out, “YES!”. The rest is history.
