Nearly seven years ago we met at church. George had just gotten back from serving an LDS mission and I had moved to Miami to attend FIU. By coincidence, I attended the same church building as George did. He approached me after the third week and was really welcoming. The first day we met I told him that I was transferring to BYU and surprisingly, he told me that he was moving to Utah as well. From there he sweet-talked me enough to convince me to go on a few dates with him —a choice that would shape the rest of my life. Moving to Utah made it difficult to continue a romantic relationship so we lost touch. A whole year passed and as fate would have it our lives crossed paths once more —Thanks to Taco Bell. George jokingly says that we’ve been together for seven years because that year we were apart I was his girlfriend, I just didn’t know it yet. However, it’s only been six years for me. All good love stories have their hard times and ours is no different. Together we have weathered many storms. Through thick and thin we have learned the meaning of love. The best is yet to come, though we are aware that our academic and career goals are important, our most important goal is to be loyal, honest and loving to each other.
