For those of you who don’t know, Evan and I met on a very cold (cold for Texas) December day at the dog park right outside Evan’s apartment. I was only there because it was 5 p.m., I was still very hungover, desperately needed food, and wanted to reward Indie for the lazy day we’d had. I thought, this will be perfect—I’ll take Indie to play some fetch and then pick up Chipotle since it’s right there. Little did I know it would be another hour before I could finally pick up my long-awaited Chipotle. Why, you might ask? Well, when we got to the park, it was business as usual—only one other dog there with his owner, a tall, handsome man. Mind you, I was far too hungover to care or make conversation, but Evan, being Evan, came right over and sparked what turned into an hour-long conversation. About halfway through, we learned that we were both from Virginia and grew up just 35 minutes from each other. It felt like fate. We eventually parted ways—but not before exchanging numbers. I remember thinking on the drive home, "man, I really hope he texts me". Less than 20 minutes later, I got a text that would be the start of our forever.
