Genoa is about 45 minutes south of Reno. Genoa has two wonderful, educational museums. The Mormon Station State Historic Park Museum owned and operated by the Nevada State Parks Dept., and the Genoa Courthouse Museum owned and operated by the Douglas County Historical Society. It's also home to Nevada's oldest bar!
Silver mines, ghost tours and trains! Virginia city is built on top of some of Nevada's oldest and deepest silver mines. There are great museums, awesome food and fun shops to explore. Just 35 minutes away from Reno, you and your family could spend a whole day here and still not see it all!
Animal Ark is located north of Reno on thirty-eight acres and primarily features native North American predators, though a few exotic species have found a home there. Animal Ark educates tens of thousands of children and adults a year about ecological principles and wildlife by providing special programming events and educational tours.
