Best Person of Honor
High school friend of Allison and confidante of John, Marcus was a dear friend of the couple for many years. He was responsible for making John and Allison's elopement memorable by helping Allison navigate marriage paperwork, finding a local judge, arranging for Allison's beautiful bouquet, and rounding out the wedding party with some of Allison and John's nearest and dearest with less than 10 days notice. Marcus passed away after a brief illness in August 2024. We love you, Marcus!
Best Person of Honor
Allison met Michael during her infectious disease training in Madison, Wisconsin. Michael is an infectious disease physician assistant. Thanks to Michael, Allison's last 6 months in Wisconsin are happy memories. He is a dear and cherished friend of the couple.
Wedding Person
Allison met Scott one fateful night at Allways Lounge at one of Marcus Gandy's drag performances. Scott was a first year medical student at Tulane and bonded with Allison over their interests in HIV and Hepatitis C prevention/diagnosis. Scott has since graduated medical school and is an Emergency Medicine resident. Scott has been a wonderful friend to Allison and John feels honored to also count Scott among his friends. Scott is the father to a beautiful rescue dog named Ruby and is also very photogenic.
Wedding Person
Allison met Mark through Marcus (are you noticing a theme here?) and has many wonderful memories of singing karaoke at Oz when Mark hosted Monday nights. Allison also remembers getting to see Jenny Lewis for the first time with Mark and it was a wonderful time, even if she did not sing "The Frug". During their friendship, Mark completed nursing school and is pursuing a career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. We were very lucky to have Mark in attendance to witness our elopement.
