It’s Happening! We’re getting married!

My best friend's husband works with Jake and at the time, had been asked by my best friend if he’d be interested in a setup. He agreed, knowing it would be a FaceTime date with a girl down in Florida. I was completely hesitant and almost called it off throughout the day, but thought to myself… “This guy is going to FaceTime me?” Fast forward to that night, we talked for over an hour while he sat on our friend's couch. (We hadn’t been given each other's numbers, so they could keep an eye on the matchmaking) We hit it off and talked every day after that until he eventually made his way to Florida to meet me officially.

Ah, the day he finally did it. I had only brought it up daily, how I couldn’t wait to marry him and live the rest of my life getting on his last nerve. We had friends visiting from out of state and had gone to Curt Gowdy to find the Hidden Falls. I had made a joke about how beautiful it would’ve been, had he decided to ask me there. He silently rolled his eyes. Just a few moments later, I expressed that July 7th would be the better day anyways. (I’m a numbers girl, leave me alone). So the next morning, we packed up and went to enjoy the scenes of Denver, CO! He wanted to get dressed up, take me to a fancy dinner, and then go to the Botanic Garden.. but the idea was vetoed… someone forgot to let the friends in on the secret. So instead, we went to the Airbnb, got check-in, & walked a mile to the Botanic Garden. Not dressed up, not as planned. Poor Jake. We wandered away from our friends and started admiring the beautiful garden & trees. There was a boardwalk area that I wanted to see and found a beautiful waterfall fountain into a koi pond. We had taken a photo of the water fountain and walked back to the area by a bench where a woman was sitting quietly doing some sketches. Jake had mentioned that we didn’t take a picture next to the waterfall and asked if I’d like to get one. So we got our selfie & all of a sudden, someone had something poking them in the foot. I waited there patiently, for what felt like 5 whole minutes, and turned around to see him down on one knee, pulling a beautiful pear-shaped ring out of his pocket. In utter shock, I responded “Really” & “Yes”. The “Really” through him for a loop. He says to himself “I’m on one knee, I have the ring, & I said the words? Yes really!!” Greatest day of my life!!
