Taxi Drivers In and Around Town

Little green taxis are EVERYWHERE downtown. You will have no problem flagging one down. They are used to picking up Gringo/as, but many do not speak great English. You can simply point to where you want to go on your handheld device map app -- these guys know the city like the back of their hand. Note that taxi fares are unofficially standardized for trips around town: you should pay no more than $25 pesos ($1.25 USD!) during the day, and $30 pesos after 10:00pm. These prices may be higher in September, but never pay more than $60 pesos ($3 USD) to get around downtown. For destinations outside of the downtown area, expect to pay around $80-100 pesos ($4-5 USD). San Miguel is the mecca of Airbnbs. Private homes for rent are often gorgeous, a mix of old world and modern, and have sprawling views on rooftop terraces. Many have pools and come with private chefs and cleaning services. Book well in advance (ASAP!!!) to secure one of the better options. Airbnb has some of the best options for stays in San Miguel, even just for two people. You can often get an entire apartment or loft for cheaper than a hotel. Also, many of the hotels even use Airbnb to promote their rooms because Airbnb is so popular in SMA tourism. It’s important to note that not all homes, apartments, and lofts in San Miguel have A/C. However, in SMA in September the weather is incredible. During the day, the highs are typically in the mid 70s and at night the lows are usually in the mid 50s. Thus, A/C isn’t absolutely necessary but if it’s a must for you be sure to check the Airbnb listing under amenities. If the place you’re looking at has or does not have A/C it will say it there. For location, please try to book in central SMA. Open the map and look for Zona Centro, if you are near there, you should can easily walk to all pre-wedding festivities.
