We are having a small church ceremony in the afternoon followed by dinner & dessert at Ristorante Picolinos.
There will be about a 3-hour gap which would be plenty of time to find parking, grab a coffee, window shop, and vibe in Ballard (where the restaurant is). Alternatively, there are several parks around the Magnolia neighborhood (where the church is) to hang around in, take some awesome photos in your lovely wedding guest attire, and then head up to Ballard. That's what I would do! Feel free to pitch me your ideas and I'll let you know if they're feasible or not.
The church has a small parking lot, and a fair amount of street parking (if you're driving). The restaurant might be a little more tricky, it's all street parking. There's always uber!
There's a small parking lot here we can use, use these exact coordinates: (47.6390490, -122.4031167) Link for street view: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HtXwhLiNjhPwVedv5 From there, you'll need to walk up the staircase to the left of the parking lot, walk up to street level, and get to the lobby through the main entrance.
Direct the uber to drop you off here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DDVpHoGmyiGe59hX7 The path leads straight into the Church lobby.
Our stance on PNW weather: prepare for the worst. Hope for the best. In late May, the worst: rainy, cold (low 50s), overcast. 🌧️ The best: clear skies, warm (low 70s) sunshine. ☀️ Can’t really go by whatever the weather app says the week before. It’s really unpredictable.
- Clothes that you can layer. So you can add or subtract depending on the weather. i.e. undershirt, fleece-lined leggings, shirt, pants, jeans, cardigan or sweater, jacket (if 50 degrees is really cold to you) - Waterproof shoes/boots (nothing’s worse than cold, wet socks!) - Shoes with tread. You never know when you’ll be walking over slippery surfaces, plus the terrain is pretty rocky with hills. - Something with a hood (or hat - locals make fun of people who use umbrellas) - Passport in case you intend to travel aboot 3 hours north for an impromptu day trip to Canada. Vancouver should be lovely in May!
You tell us a neighborhood and we’ll be happy to provide guidance or scope it out for you. Our favorite neighborhoods are Ballard and Fremont. Capitol Hill is good too. We live in Lynnwood and the 1 line train runs all the way from Lynnwood to SeaTac airport. Check Google maps public transportation directions to see how accessible it is.
