Cori and Andy's Story

Many of you are well acquainted with the story behind how Cori and Andy came to meet. For those unfamiliar, let’s start at the beginning . . . - 4.5 billion B.C.: formation of Earth - 350,000 B.C.: Homo sapiens first appears in Africa - 12,000 B.C: Agricultural Revolution - 1066 A.D.: Norman invasion of Britain - 1215 A.D.: Magna Carta - July 4, 1776 A.D.: Declaration of Independence - July 20, 1969 A.D.: Man walks on the Moon After that, not much happened. Then, on a hot, dry Labor Day in 2015, Andy and Cori met at Cheesman Park in Denver. The park used to be a cemetery, but there was plenty of life that day. Through mutual friends, Cori and Andy found their way to the park to ostensibly play volleyball, but they mostly drank beers in the late summer sun. They were quickly drawn to each other as Cori (unsuccessfully) tried to teach bottom-heavy Andy how to do a handstand. Despite the obvious connection, Andy foolishly failed to ask Cori on a date until they met again later that spring. This time, Andy shot his shot, and on April 24, 2016, the two spent a perfect Sunday watching the Rockies lose, eating Fire on the Mountain, riding bikes, and drinking beers. Since that day, they’ve remained inseparable. They’ve traveled far and wide—from Indianola, Iowa to Hvar, Croatia. They’ve seen dozens of concerts including their favorites: LCD Soundsystem, the War on Drugs, and the Dead. There were more sunny park days, ski trips, and porch beers. Cori’s friends and family became Andy’s friends and family, and vice versa. But more than having fun, Andy and Cori have grown as true partners. They adopted a big ol’ rescue lab named Wallace, a.k.a., the Big Socrates. They lived throughout Denver, including in the attic of a super haunted former halfway house. They changed jobs, weathered the pandemic, and grew to rely upon one another through good times and bad. Now, they’re ready for the next chapter, eager to build a life worth sharing.
