Corey and Becca met on the dating app hinge. Corey tried to match with Becca, but she ignored it... Oops. Then a few months later, Becca sent Corey a message and they scheduled their first date. Corey picked the place, which Becca wasn't a huge fan of and unfortunately smelled like bleach. Corey is convinced that Becca smells phantom smells and that it smelled fine. For their second date, Corey invited Becca to a fancy (by Eugene's standards) french restaurant for the following Friday. Unfortunately, Becca became super sick (like barely moving from the couch for three days kind of sick), and had to cancel. Becca offered two dates to reschedule, the upcoming Sunday, or the following Thursday. Becca acknowledged that Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday, but stated that she didn't really care about watching it if he didn't. This is when Corey told Becca his first lie by saying that he "isn't that into football." Becca and Corey had their second date at a nice Italian place in Eugene, which Becca reported smelled great, and Corey sadly missed the last half of Super Bowl 58. Becca then had a rude awakening when she later learned that Corey is a huge Jaguars fan and spends as many Sunday mornings as he can watching them play. Corey and Becca began to see more and more of each other over the coming months, which were unfortunately some of the most stressful months of Becca's life. Becca was leaving her full time job, starting her own practice, and her beloved Grandma was on hospice care and passed away in May, 2023. Corey knew that he wanted to be with Becca, but it was a slower burn for Becca because of all she had going on. Corey became a constant source of support through a really challenging time, and Becca's feeling quickly caught up to his. One of the last conversations she had with her grandma was telling her that she started dating someone who seemed pretty great. Becca's grandma was super happy for her, and told her that she hoped he was "the one." We know that she is celebrating their engagement up in heaven and that she is happy her wish came true.
