There are two ways to get to Grand Lake when traveling from Denver. One way is going on I-70 to 40 and then to 34. This route would be recommended for travelers who are not as secure with driving in the mountains. It is the fastest route and the scenery is beautiful. The second option is taking 36 to 34. This route will take you through Rocky Mountain National Park and therefore, there will be a greater amount of traffic. This route is not recommended for travelers to drive at night. While the scenic views are breathtaking, be aware there are sheer drop offs.
Altitude sickness is definitely a real thing. When getting into Denver, the best thing you can do to avoid getting altitude sickness is stocking up on water and staying hydrated.
Please be aware that when at a higher altitude, the effects of alcohol are magnified 2 to 3 times over the effects of the same drink at sea level. We want all of our guests to enjoy themselves, but not accidentally overindulge.
