In August of 2015 we met in the most unlikely of places... at college... in the gym! Corey was working the front desk and Kelly was an orientation leader at the end of a very long week. They bonded over Kelly's stubbornness and Corey's patience. A few months later they went on their first date and the rest is history.

After graduating college, Corey accepted a job in New London, Connecticut and Kelly stayed in Florida to finish up her degree before going on to accept a job at Cape Canaveral, Florida. This started a three and a half year long distance relationship. It was hard, but Kelly and Corey made it a point to see each other every month and talk or Facetime for HOURS every day! Eventually they both moved to Colorado to finally be together!

Corey had planned to propose to Kelly in either Germany or Italy, but the pandemic had different plans. Having nowhere to go, Corey did a ton of research on where he could propose to Kelly that was both safe and meaningful. He finally came across a destination in the most unlikely of places... Hutchinson, Kansas. One Friday after work, Corey told Kelly to pack a bag and that they were going somewhere. Kelly had no idea where they were going but she packed a bag and got in the car. They drove East into Kansas for many hours which confused Kelly. Eventually (at 1 AM in the morning) they made it to a hotel in a small town which appeared to be in the middle of nowhere with nothing in the darkness. Corey tells Kelly that she has to be up and ready to go by 6:30 AM later that morning. After a very short night’s sleep, they got up and ready before continuing driving along an old highway. After stopping in the most amazing, giant grocery store for some coffee at the local Starbucks on the edge of town they continue their morning’s journey. Eventually, Corey turned a corner and Kelly immediately saw rockets. She looked at Corey and said "Why the heck is there a Redstone Rocket in the middle of Kansas?!?!" Corey replied "Just wait” with a smile. They parked next to the rockets and go into a building called the Cosmosphere. Corey got their tickets and they walk down the stairs where they turn a corner to see the Apollo 13 capsule! They are admiring the beauty of such a historical object when Corey gets down on one knee and asks Kelly to marry him. She said Yes of course!
