Sometimes, you just have to try something new. Corey and I always imagined meeting the loves of our lives in a traditional way—maybe in a grocery store aisle or at a favorite local spot. Even though we were both hesitant about online dating, we decided to keep an open mind. As it turns out, that openness became one of the best choices we ever made in our pursuit of love. Fast-forward to Madison, Mississippi—Liberty Park, July 3, 2022. We watched fireworks in the thick Mississippi heat, snow cones in hand, while a child played freely in a puddle of leftover rain. It was simple, sweet, and unforgettable—the first of many memories we would go on to make together. From that night forward, we were nearly inseparable. Our first kiss was under the stars at Pelican Cove. We listened to jazz in New Orleans and felt the Biloxi sand beneath our feet. But not every treasured moment required an adventure. Some of our favorite times were spent watching movies late into the night, singing off-key to our favorite songs down I-55, or sharing chips and salsa in the corner booth at Pedro’s. By stepping outside our comfort zones and letting go of the expectations we once held, we found something better than what we imagined—we found each other.
