My first time in Mexico what do I need for Immigration?

Answer

You will receive the two required Mexican forms at the airport check in or on the flight. Mexican immigration form is required for each person or one per family and one Mexican customs declaration is required.

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! You will be in a different country and you will be required to have a passport to enter Mexico as well as to enter the USA. Collect all those stamps!

Can I Drink the Water?

Answer

Isla Mujeres has an extensive water purification system but no one on the island drinks the water from the tap. Bottled water is readily available at all Restaurants, Hotels and grocery stores.

What's the Weather like?

Answer

Most Mays high is 91 and low is 70- So in other words VERY HOT!

Can I pay with US dollars?

Answer

The answer is yes! but not preferred. We strongly recommend you exchange you USD to pesos. the exchange rate is $1 usd = $ 18.79 pesos. We recommend you don't exchange at the airport as the dollar is much lower. There are banks in Isla Mujeres where you can easily exchange. You must have your passport with you.

Can I use my credit card?

Answer

yes of course at restaurant, hotels, rentals etc, but make sure you ask the server or hostess before hand. Make sure to call your bank and let them know you will be out of the country.

Do I have to tip in mexico?

Answer

Yes please! "propina" ( tips) are 15-20% of total bill. If you go to a grocery store and see kids or elderly bagging for you- tips are usually the only form of payment PLEASE TIP.

How do I get to/from Isla Mujeres and the Cancun Airport?

Answer

fly to the Cancun airport and then take ground transportation to the Ultramar Ferry (also known as Gran Puerto, Isla Ferry or Puerto Jerez when in doubt say ‘Isla Mujeres Ferry’

Where do I buy Ferry tickets

Answer

You purchase tickets for the Ferry at the Ferry Dock and the ferry takes you across the Bay of Mujeres to the island. During the day the Ferry runs about every 15 minutes and takes about 20 minutes.

What do I do when I get to Isla Mujeres?

Answer

When you arrive on Isla Mujeres you can rent a taxi to take you to your hotel or a tricycle operator to take your bags while you walk to your hotel depending on location.

How do I stay in contact while in Isla Mujeres?

Answer

Corey & Brenda have an international plan. Most of Isla is also on wifi- so text and email are fine too!

How do I get a taxi and what are the rates?

Answer

Taxis can be hailed just about anywhere in Isla 4 door red cars. The taxi stand is just to the left of the ferry dock when you arrive and the official rates are posted on the wall. Most drivers only speak spanish. Cash Mexican Pesos is required for payment.

How much are Taxis in Isla Mujeres?

Answer

The price scales from $40 - $88 pesos. (Prices subject to change). Be sure to ask the price before taking off to avoid a surprise at the end of the ride.

What car service do you recommend?

Answer

Please note that there are no car service in Isla Mujers. If you are looking for a car service to pick you up from the airport or transfer you to somewhere else in Riviera Maya we suggest you use www.mycancuntransportation.com. We have had great experience with them :)

How do I rent a golf cart on the Island?

Answer

There are numerous places to rent golf carts for a few hours, full day or for 24 hours from the time of rental. You will see various places as soon as you get off the ferry. You will pay up front and they will ask for your drivers license to hold until you return the golf cart or scooter. If you happen to be pulled over by police, let them know the rental place that has your license.

What sort of medical care can I get on or near Isla?

Answer

Isla has an english speaking local doctor (Dr. Salas), a local hospital near the downtown Plaza and the Naval Hospital. For small stuff there are pharmacies located through the the island.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We tailored our guest list to people that the dearest and nearest to our hearts we chose a more intimate event and won't be able to accommodate additional guests.

Is it adults only wedding?

Answer

For our friends and family with kids, please know that we love and adore them, but we had to limit it to direct family and wedding party only.
