Sometimes the most beautiful love stories begin in the simplest ways. Ours started with a message on Instagram. Corey had seen a post Akela shared about a lunch spot she was visiting with friends and decided to reach out, curious about the place. What seemed like a casual conversation quickly became something much more meaningful. When we finally spent time together in person, everything just felt easy — like we had known each other for years. From that first hangout, it was clear something special had begun. Over the next two years, our relationship grew into a love filled with adventure, support, and countless memories we’ll always cherish. With every moment together, we knew we were building something truly special. Then came a weekend we’ll never forget. During Labor Day weekend in 2024, Corey surprised Akela with a trip to Chicago. After a romantic evening and an incredible dinner at RPM Steak, we returned to our hotel room still glowing from the night. In that quiet moment, Corey got down on one knee and asked the question that would change our lives forever. Through happy tears and full hearts, the answer was an easy yes.
