It was the final house party at the hipster house by the train tracks. When I saw Scott, I internally cringed at how he'd decided to wear a golf polo and cargo shorts to a hipster party. When Scott saw me, sporting blue bangs and a mostly shaved head, he thought to himself, "That's someone who must have all the cool party connects." Somehow we ended up kissing, and we've been inseparable ever since.
I proposed to him in our first apartment with a handmade banner. When I told him I wanted to do the proposing instead of the other way around, he said, "Just don't hide the ring in food or do some big public spectacle."
We closed on our beautiful house in the hilltop neighborhood of Carrick and immediately rolled up our sleeves, taking out old carpet, refinishing the 100-year-old hardwood floors, and giving everything a new coat of paint. We look forward to being able to host holiday dinners and grow our family here!
We realized we were coming up on our 10th anniversary in 2021 and figured we should probably get around to finally getting married. In a self-uniting ceremony (a Quaker tradition legally recognized in Pennsylvania) down in the woods at the end of our street, our two brothers served as the witnesses to our private union.
