Most people don't work at a coffee shop for the caffeine-deprived hoards or the milk-soaked apron. Most people, like us, work there for the benefits: health care, perks, higher pay than most. For us, there was an unexpected benefit: finding the love of your life. It wasn't supposed to happen, it wasn't supposed to work. Maybe it was the naïveté, maybe it was stubbornness, maybe it was just too much caffeine; whatever the reason, coffee or lack of judgement, we stuck together. Over the last 4 years of our relationship we've been through just about everything: loss, heartache, joy and everything in-between. We've grown as people, individuals separate from one another who've come together to build a really wonderful life. So say what you want about that coffee giant, but without it, this thing that was never supposed to work did so with all the grace and dignity of a properly-steamed dry cappuccino.
