We randomly met at a bar dancing and have never looked back. Our lives could have crossed so many times throughout both of our childhoods spent growing up in Eugene. We attended the same church, my dad watched his sister play basketball, our moms had similar friends, ect. But we were not brought together until it was our time. Both of us had been in relationships that taught us who we were and what we needed. When we finally sat down for a first date (to my hesitation) that was it. From that day on we both knew that we had never met someone so amazing, and so right for the other. Corbin is handsome, strong, loyal, logical, nerdy and so kind at heart. He truly fits who I am, challenges me in the best ways, and is exactly who I need. I have been praying since I was a little girl for the man I was going to marry, and Corbin you are more than I could have ever dreamed of. We are both so excited and ready for our next chapter of life together as husband and wife!
Madeline and I had plans to celebrate the new year in Portland with all of our friends. To her surprise everyone was able to make it, even two of her closest friends from Washington made the drive to be there. Little did she know what I had in store for her. I had schemed with Noel to go to a specific place I had in mind. She convinced Madeline that she wanted to take some photos with Logan under a bridge at a place called Cathedral park. After Noel and Logan took some photos I pulled Madeline over for our turn in front of the camera. After we snapped a few pics I reached for the little wood box in my pocket and dropped to one knee. I asked Madeline to spend the rest of her life with me, and with excitement she said yes. We spent the day and night of our engagement celebrating with some of our favorite people and ringing in the new year!
Even before COVID struck we decided to do something untraditional and elope. A wedding to us meant celebrating our love and commitment to one another with our closest people. We didn't need all the fuss of a big wedding or a lot of guests for the exchange of our vows to feel special. We decided we wanted to take our immediate families and head to Kauai this December for a joint family vacation. Sadly, two weeks before we were all ready to go they put back a mandatory 14 day quarantine. So we had to cancel our trip and quickly come up with a plan B. We are now heading to Bend with our immediate families, and having a very low key elopement at Smith Rock. My dad will be officiating and our photographer is coming to capture the day! We are so bummed our Kauai plans had to change but we are thankful that we can still be with our families and get married this month!!
We have had to reschedule how we celebrate with you all so many times. But you are important to us, so we will make sure to find time to share our pictures, stories, and celebrate the fact that we are married with you soon! In the meantime, we have posted our registries with a few items we would love to have as we start our new life together as The Duncans.
