We met through a friend in the summer of 2018 at Fieldwork Brewery in Monterey. We immediately found shared interests, and conversation was effortless. Others sitting at the table thought that we were a long-time couple because of how we so easily connected with each other. (It may have also been our matching sets of dimples!) Our relationship grew over many dinners, living room dance parties, Sharks games, hikes, cycling trips, roller-skating adventures, and countless retellings of the “bee joke.” We discovered not only that we are deeply in love with each other, but that we are best friends, and found out we relished in being the fantastic goofballs we each are together. Jim surprised me the day he proposed. It was mid-December, and we started off the day taking my dog Toby on a walk at beautiful Asilomar beach. After a long walk, we found a quiet spot on the beach. Jim pulled out a piece of paper and started to read off a long list of things he loved about me and our relationship together. At the end, he said he was tired of having to say goodbye so often, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I of course, said YES! Shortly after our engagement, we decided to move in together. A week or two later the pandemic hit us, and ”living together” quickly became “sheltering in place” together. What a test of a relationship – from each of us living apart, to living completely together, working/schooling together, worrying together, laughing and loving together. And we can absolutely say – we have passed that test with flying colors! Convention be damned on our special day! Coralie’s (amazing!) daughter Ella will be the maid of honor, and Jim’s (amazing!) daughter Tiffany will be Jim’s best woman! We just couldn’t wait any longer! :-)
