Once upon a time, in a land down under, two young medical students named Cora and Austin first met and became secret admirers. Crossing paths a few times at gatherings and chatting for entirely too long outside on warm Aussie nights while everyone else was cooling off inside. “Can’t you hear, can’t you hear that thunder? We better run, we better take cover”. They retreated to the Bayou, only to get the fire roaring again at a friend’s crawfish boil. This was the beginning of the journey of a lifetime. The night continued, bringing them to a bustling jazz bar called Maison where, for all they knew, they had the place to themselves. Deep conversation, a few dances, and a late-night stroll through Jackson Square later, they had found something truly special. She introduced him to her daughter Kona who he immediately took in as his own. Next comes a category four hurricane and a drive across the Eastern US, making pit stops in Alabama, North Carolina, DC, NJ, and finally NYC, meeting each other’s family and friends along the way. Through all this, they grew closer and made the probably irresponsible decision to link their residency applications, ensuring they would not have to leave each other’s side. By the grace of God, everything went according to plan. They remained in NOLA for residency training, and on one special evening, almost sabotaged by the faulty Lakeview pump system, they once again took a stroll through Jackson Square. This time, he would ask her to spend a lifetime with him, and she said yes. This is where the real story starts and where we hope all of you will join us for a night full of funky jazz, good eats, lots of laughs, and plenty of love.
