Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code is formal. This means suits/tuxes or dresses/gowns - the important thing we want to convey is you can't be overdressed! This is our big, fancy day and want our guests in their big, fancy attire! To our gays: no nudity (this includes mesh!), no crocs, no birkenstocks, and no crop tops.

Question

What is the weather usually like?

Answer

The trick to dressing for the weather in New York is LAYERS. In the mornings and at night, temperatures can get close to freezing, but during the day if the sun is out, you can find yourself overheating in a thick sweater. In general, at the end of November/beginning of December, high temps range between 55 and 65 degrees, and low temps are usually between 35 and 45 degrees.

Question

Will the ceremony be outside?

Answer

Weather permitting. It's impossible to say whether we'll have a sunny, cool day or a freezing one, but we're definitely keeping our guests' comfort top of mind. That said, we've got our fingers crossed for a sunny day like some of the ones we've seen these past few years around Thanksgiving, not too hot or too cold.

Question

There wasn't a menu card with my invitation--how will you know what to serve?

Answer

Every guest will have the opportunity to choose their preferred dinner option from a menu provided at the event. We are taking care to consider all types of diet and appetites, but if you have an allergy, require a certified kosher meal, or are concerned about any other dietary restriction, please do let us know so that we can plan accordingly.

Question

What are the best days for me to fly in?

Answer

According to the internet, the cheapest days to fly during Thanksgiving week are: Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday or the Monday after Thanksgiving. The most expensive days are: the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Question

How far is the venue from New York City?

Answer

Whether you drive or take the train, it's about an hour and a half trip.

Question

How much does it cost to travel to and from the venue to the city?

Answer

We recommend using the Long Island Railroad to travel into and out of New York City. An adult, off peak ticket costs $15.25 (seniors $10.25). Any travel time during Thanksgiving weekend will most likely be off peak, but note that peak travel times have higher ticket prices. If you choose to order a car or drive to or from the city, give yourself extra time. The traffic getting out of NYC is notorious, as is the slow downs on the Long Island Expressway and pretty much all other main highways.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

As much as we love the littles in our life, our event will not be appropriate for children. We appreciate the extra effort that our friends and family will put into making arrangements for childcare.

Question

What will your last names be?

Answer

Both of us are keeping our last names and we are happy to see them in any order when we receive mail, so no need to worry about updating your contacts!
