We found each other using Hinge, the dating app. Erin was pretty fed up with men in general and moving forward assuming single life forever! Bret was reaching that Zen-like state of acceptance where he was not expecting anything to come out of dating anymore, thinking he was just "too weird" for anyone to handle. Now keep in mind that Bret's a romantic, so to be in that mindset you know it had to be bad. But that all changed after meeting Erin. Sure, she's drop dead gorgeous, but the fact that she is/was so honest, open, and quirky is what left the biggest impression. Bret knew then and there, that he had met his Bashert. Look it up. Erin sometimes cringes about how she almost ditched our first date because, let's face it, her sewing project seemed way more pressing at the time. What a horrible mistake that would have been! Not really a believer of 'love at first sight,' Erin is certain it was attraction at first sight. She will never forget the way her heart fluttered the first time she saw Bret waiting for her on the sidewalk looking so cool and confident (and strikingly like a lumberjack *drool*- iykyk). As for her reaction when Bret first confessed his love? Let's just say, Bret won't let her forget her less than enthusiastic reply. Clearly, she has made up for it and Bret knows now, without a doubt. Our first date was simply sitting and walking around Reston Town Center with no real aim other than 'spend as much time together as possible and spill ALL the beans.' We left no topic untouched and spent 5 hours together, neither of us wanted it to end. Now, it'll never have to.
