Our Story

It was a care-free time of life when Ashley and I met in Truckee, CA in 2013. Each and every day was warm, the water forever flowing, and the sun setting late. We lived in a house on the river and developed a deep and trusting friendship during river swims, dock jumps and star gazing. Our friends and I were grateful to have Ashley- a refreshing, grounded, intelligent and caring soul- come into our lives at a pivotal time of growth. Over mountain passes and cocktails, we shared our goals to make a positive impact on the lives of our families, communities and environment, to each have a family one day. Ashley started her career at Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (among other ventures), making a difference, personally and professionally. Inspired by her momentum, I left to do some good in the world. I took to the Boundary Waters in MN on a canoe for 30 days at a time with troubled teens and another overwhelmed adult. After two fulfilling years, I returned to CA to start my professional career. Ashley and I deepened our friendship over weekend adventures with our friends. The San Francisco Bay Area became a significant place for our bond, where we’d later live together with Mina, our adventure pup. Flash forward a few years, and many adventures and dinner/dance parties, and we’d both be preparing for a pig roast in Pismo Beach, CA. While she still laughs about telling me she liked me (online) and immediately “hiding under my desk,” I will always thank Ashley for her courage as the feelings were strongly mutual. We'll forever remember Burning Ham 1.0 with our friends, and then our weekend-long “first date” at LCD Soundsystem. Helluva a way to kick this life off. Ours is a relationship built on a love and trust I never knew could exist.. We know we're fortunate and count our blessings often. We couldn’t be happier to take this step together, and I’m so grateful for all of the love and support that you have shown us. Looking forward to celebrating with you, Tim

The Engagement

Tim took me camping at Blue Lake, in the mountains just west of Truckee, CA- where we met. After setting up the most perfect campsite (as we do), we decided to hike around Blue Lake. I spotted a ridge line and we made our way up to what will forever be known as Engagement Mountain. As I looked down at our favorite landscape of alpine water, granite, and dense forest, he turned on a song that had made me cry when we were moving out of our first home earlier that week preparing to start our new life in Colorado. After we danced (as we do), he asked me to close my eyes and with a short and sweet proposal, got down on one knee. Of course, I said "YES!!!" We spent that night and the next day exploring and celebrating, reveling in our shared love, respect, and admiration for one another (another thing we do often). On the night after our engagement, Tim had arranged a surprise for me: a celebration with four our of our best friends (Kevin & Sarah Johansen, Logan & Tracy Chaney- who would give birth to their first born 4 days later!). These four friends have been with us from our days in Truckee together, dance parties in the Bay, and at Burning Ham 1.0; they have supported and celebrated with us through everything. It meant the world to celebrate with them over champagne, cheese, and a whole lot of love. Tim and I spent the next two weeks celebrating in Oakland, Sonoma, and the Sierras with our family and friends. Austin & Shannon's property in Glen Ellen is very dear to our hearts, and we are overjoyed to be celebrating our marriage there with YOU. Love, Ashley
